D37S is devoted to several divisional projects, such as Project SHINE, and supporting Pediatric Trauma Prevention (PTP).
Project SHINE: In our schools and communities, we continuously strive for equality and equal treatment for all individuals. But, although we make many efforts and attempts to accomplish this goal, we often times do not fully achieve it. Unfortunately, children, teens, and adults with disabilities/special needs tend to be forgotten in our society’s endeavors in reaching equal treatment of everyone with acceptance and with respect that all deserve.
“Project Shine: Bringing Light into Someone’s Life” focuses on individuals with special needs, whether it is academically, physically, or mentally. Individuals who fall into any one of these categories are sometimes left in the shadows, and are mistreated by other individuals who do not understand their special needs. This is happening in our schools and in our communities, whether it is evident or hidden.
Pediatric Trauma Prevention: The number one cause for children under the age of 14 years old is unintentional injury. PTP is dedicated to preventing these unintentional injuries by providing the necessary equipment, training, and tools to help further improve the safety of all children.
